A popular marketing tool or money-making tactic that continues to increase in strength is eBook publishing. Purchasing eBook software is the first step to putting your works online. The eBook creator software applications allow you to build pages and compile books, manuals and documents into an organized format, including an optional table of contents. For this reason and many more we decided to review eBook software to find out which provided more value for the money.
While there are countless aspects that determine what software is the best, we have narrowed the rating criteria down to four different categories: Features, Compiling Capabilities, Ease of Use and Help & Support. Through these four categories we feel we are able to encompass each aspect of the application as we work to provide an overall rating.
Your depth of interest in eBook publishing will determine the amount of features you are searching for. If you are looking for a basic eBook complier application that will upload your text to the web for download or purchase, you will be able to select any software and get the job done; however, if you are interested in customizing your creation, you should view the variety of options that are offered through the different applications available. Some of the features that are specific to only certain software applications include: a buy page that will provide a purchase option before users can read the content on the page; text-to-speech capabilities which make it possible for the user to listen to the text instead of read it; and trial period options which limit users to a certain amount of time before they must purchase the product to continue use.
A large focus of our rating for Compiling Capabilities came from the file types that are supported by each program. If a file type is supported, you can add additional features to your eBook such as: music, graphics or videos. In addition to file type the compiling capabilities of an eBook determine everything from the design of the book and its aesthetic appeal to links and navigation. As we ran tests using the different applications to create a number of eBooks, we determined that the rating for this category would be decided by the number of capabilities provided along with the quality of each.
Ease of Use
One criterion that cannot be overlooked in any review is the product’s ease of use. This is rated by the overall ease a user finds throughout use of the product. Is the application easily navigated? Can you find what you are looking for by following the prompts? Or can you complete your project without getting stressed? We were able to use each of the products and compare their usability and rate which provides the most user-friendly setup.
Help & Support
A good indicator that you have purchased a quality product is the company that backs it up. Although with a high-end product you shouldn’t need to plan on contacting the company regarding bugs or customer support, it is always nice to know that they are reliable and stand behind their product. Characteristics of company help and support teams that we considered while creating the rating included: contact options, ease of use, response time, knowledge, usability and demeanor. A great help and support team will provide a number of contact options that cater to your comfort, a response to your query within 24 hours, knowledge of their product, understandable and usable help, and a friendly and patient staff willing to help you get the answer you are seeking.
The higher the ranking, the better we feel the product performs.
